How We Care: Livelihood
Throughout the years we have worked hard to enhance the productivity of the local fishermen, women, senior citizens, and farmers living in our host communities. We have introduced livelihood and enabled income-generating projects through the extension of capital, technical support, and the distribution of supplies and materials.
Among our initiatives to create self-reliant and self-managing communities, we have:
- Conducted animal dispersal projects (including horses, carabaos, hogs, poultry, and goats) to farmers, mothers and senior citizens.
- The extension of production capital and supplies to micro enterprises.
- Technical assistance such as vaccination and medication of livestock to limit mortality; we also conducted regular visits and monitoring by our agri-technician in partnership with the Barangay Committee on Agriculture.
- The distribution of over 40 bancas to marginal fishermen via soft loan facility; included in the distribution were boat engines, fishing nets, and other fishing equipment. This gave greater independence and provided increased profit margins to fishermen who used to have to rent their fishing bancas.
