HMC Backs School of Living Tradition via Cultural Bead-Making in Brgy. Cabuaya
Hallmark Mining Corporation continues to champion cultural preservation with the implementation of the School of Living Tradition (SLT) in Barangay Cabuaya, focusing on the promotion of Mandaya culture and the arts through traditional beads-making. This initiative empowers the Indigenous People (IP) community to safeguard their heritage by passing on their skills, symbols, and stories to younger generations.
Through the SLT, Mandaya artisans and cultural practitioners lead hands-on sessions on crafting traditional beadwork—an art form deeply rooted in the identity and history of the community. Participants learn techniques, color patterns, and cultural meanings behind each design, ensuring that these traditions remain vibrant and alive amid modernization.
The handmade cultural beads produced under the program are now available at the Tribal Hall of Barangay Cabuaya Pasalubong Center, providing both cultural visibility and livelihood opportunities for the community. By supporting this initiative, Hallmark Mining Corporation helps strengthen cultural pride, promote heritage-based enterprises, and ensure that the Mandaya people’s artistic traditions continue to thrive.
