HMC Strengthens Child Nutrition Efforts in Host and Neighboring Barangays
Hallmark Mining Corporation continues to strengthen its commitment to community health and child nutrition through sustained support for supplemental feeding initiatives in its host barangays. On March 6, 2025, the company assisted the Macambol Health Center in implementing a feeding program for 43 identified malnourished children in Barangay Macambol. The program provided daily, nutritious meals designed to address stunting and wasting—two critical indicators of malnutrition—through the joint efforts of parents, the Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS), and the barangay midwife. Prepared using locally sourced ingredients, the meals were both nutritious and culturally appropriate, with health monitoring conducted regularly by the midwife to track each child’s progress.
In addition to Macambol, Hallmark Mining Corporation extended support to supplemental feeding activities in its host barangay of Cabuaya and the neighboring barangays of Luban and Lanca on May 13–14, 2025. Implemented with the involvement of three BNS volunteers, the program assisted malnourished children across the three sites. Notable improvements were recorded: 5 out of 19 children rehabilitated in Brgy. Lanca, 7 out of 25 in Brgy. Luban, and 3 out of 18 in Brgy. Cabuaya—demonstrating meaningful progress in the fight against childhood malnutrition.
Regular health checks and growth assessments were conducted throughout the program to ensure each intervention remained responsive to the children's needs. Through these efforts, Hallmark Mining Corporation reinforces its dedication to improving child nutrition in both its host and neighboring communities, supporting families, strengthening local health systems, and contributing to a healthier future for the children of Davao Oriental.
